Join Mimi Herman, Culley Holderfield, Katy Munger, and The Kudzu Ramblers for a reading, book sales, and signing–and some seriously toe-tapping music! While you’re there, check out the specialty cocktails crafted for the evening.

Mimi Herman is the author of The Kudzu Queen, a new novel about fifteen-year-old Mattie Lee Watson, who wants to be crowned Kudzu Queen and capture his attention—until she discovers that Mr. Cullowee, like the kudzu he promotes, has a dark and predatory side. David Sedaris calls The Kudzu Queen, “Funny, sad, and tender… Mimi Herman has written a novel that possesses a true and hard-won understanding of the South,” and Lee Smith says, “What a wonderful novel! Mimi Herman brings us a charming charlatan, a farming community at a major turning point, and the most appealing young heroine since Scout…. This book demands to be a movie!”

In Culley Holderfield’s Hemlock Hollow, the discovery of a boy’s journal lures college professor Caroline McAlister into the depths of a century-old murder and toward a past she thought she had long ago escaped. Her voice tangles with Carson Quinn’s in the laurel hell of a hollow they haunt a century apart, sharing hard lessons about love and loss. Buzzfeed praises Hemlock Hollow as “a winter thriller you won’t be able to stop thinking about.”The Southern Bookseller Review calls the book, “The most fascinating novel…. I can’t recommend it highly enough as a page-turner that will stay with and haunt the reader.” And author Heather Bell Adams says, “With its evocative sense of place and carefully-timed revelations, reading Hemlock Hollow feels akin to opening a treasure chest.”

Katy Munger is a North Carolina-based mystery author who has written under several different pseudonyms. She is the author of the Dead Detective series; the Casey Jones crime fiction series; and the Hubbert & Lil mystery series. She has also contributed to numerous short story collections. Her books can be found on Amazon or ordered through Ingram Distributors by your local bookstore. Katy has also been a book reviewer for the Washington Post and served as North Carolina’s 2016 Piedmont Laureate.

The Kudzu Ramblers are a friendly group of people who always have a good time. They play bluegrass and gospel but have been known to break out into an old-time or a cappella number. Their belief is that music should be something enjoyable for both the listener and performer and that an occasional story or two never hurt anything.
