Matt Southern is something of an open secret in the Triangle music community. He is a versatile musician, prolific songwriter and sympathetic collaborator. He has produced and engineered for a wide range of artists in the area (Dissimilar South, Kit McKay, Alexander Robichaud, Chompzz). Southern is also part of a team that produces the music video series ‘Live from the Nest’ which hosts local artists performing in his living room.
His band, Matt Southern & Lost Gold, has been a regional favorite since the release of their self-titled debut with Potluck Foundation in 2019. They have played festival and club stages across the state in support of their steady stream of new releases
