Hackett-Phillips is an acoustic and Piedmont style blues duo based in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Terry Hackett has been playing harmonica since he was a kid, but it wasn’t until he found the book “Country and Blues Harmonica for the Musically Hopeless” that he thought seriously about performing.
Gregg Phillips is a terrific vocalist and guitar player. Coming from a bluegrass background, Gregg likes to “bluesify” bluegrass standards even though it may make Bill Monroe turnover in his grave.
Terry and Gregg have been playing music together for about 15 years but only launched Hackett-Phillips about 5 years ago.
Their music is heavily influenced by Doc Watson, Browny McGhee, Sonny Terry, Delbert McClinton, and Bill Monroe. If you like back porch toe-tapping music and bad “dad” jokes, you’ll love Hackett-Phillips.
